Crab Cake With Old Bay Seasoning Recipe

When it comes to seafood, crab cakes are a classic and delicious choice. Nothing beats biting into the crispy crust and savoring the sweet and briny flavor of the crab meat. Adding Old Bay seasoning to the mix only takes it up a notch. Old Bay is a blend of herbs and spices that includes celery salt, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of crab meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Before you start, make sure that your crab meat is free of shells and finely shredded.

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg until it’s lightly beaten.

2. Add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and Old Bay seasoning. Whisk all of the ingredients together until they’re fully combined.

3. Gently fold the crab meat into the mixture, taking care not to break up the meat too much.

4. Gradually add the bread crumbs to the mixture, using your hands to blend everything together well.

5. Form the mixture into patties about 3 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch thick.

6. Place the patties onto a tray and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld and the patties firm up.

7. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the crab cakes to the skillet and cook until they’re golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

8. Once the crab cakes are golden brown, transfer them to a baking sheet and finish cooking them in the oven for about 10-12 minutes.

9. Serve hot with a wedge of lemon and your favorite dipping sauce.
